Yogurt Tortillas
Ingredients
  • 2 ½ cups white flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 ½ tbs butter, softened
  • ½ cup plain yogurt
  • Water (as needed)
Directions
  1. Sift the dry ingredients into a medium bowl
  2. Cut butter into the flour until the mixture resembles a course meal
  3. Add the milk to the flour mixture all at once, mix well
  4. Gather the dough into a ball with your hands and knead briefly (if sticky add flour)
  5. Divide dough into equal pieces
  6. 8 pieces for 8” tortillas
  7. 10 pieces for 7” tortillas
  8. 16 pieces for 5” tortillas
  9. 36 pieces for 3” tortillas
  10. Form each piece into a smooth ball and flatten slightly with your hands
  11. Cover with a towel and let rest for 15 minutes
  12. Preheat a dry, heavy skillet over medium heat
  13. On a lightly floured board, roll out 1 piece into a circle
  14. Cook the tortilla on skillet until lightly browned on both sides
